On May 9 and 10, 2026, thousands of participants took part in the Generali Geneva Marathon, one of Switzerland’s most iconic sporting events. Renowned for its route connecting the Geneva countryside to the city center, with a finish line facing the famous Jet d’Eau, the event attracts runners every year who come to take on their personal challenge in a festive and friendly atmosphere.
For SKYNIGHT, this year’s event had a special significance. Since the marathon’s inaugural edition, our teams have been working with the organizers to set up the audiovisual equipment needed to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Twenty years later, the marathon has changed significantly. The number of participants has grown, infrastructure has expanded, and expectations regarding the event experience have risen. Our teams have grown alongside it, continually adapting our technical systems to meet the organization’s evolving needs.
Once again this year, several key areas required the deployment of specialized audiovisual equipment to ensure sound coverage, the operation of performance spaces, and the coordination of the weekend’s various highlights.
Production spread across several strategic areas
One of the unique features of the Generali Geneva Marathon is its multi-site format. Unlike many events that are concentrated in a single location, the marathon takes place across several venues spread out along the entire course.
For the 2026 edition, the SKYNIGHT teams worked on:
- The start of the marathon
- Richemont Stadium
- The course
- Finish areas
- The Marathon Village
Each venue has its own technical and operational constraints. The goal is to ensure a consistent experience for runners, spectators, volunteers, and organizers, while maintaining seamless coordination across the various sites.
An atmosphere that takes hold from the very first few steps
The start of the marathon is one of the most anticipated moments of the weekend. This is where the participants’ excitement builds, the final race instructions are given, entertainment takes place, and the countdown to the start of the various events begins.
To support this critical phase of the event, SKYNIGHT deployed a comprehensive system designed to effectively cover the entire starting area.
The equipment deployed at the outset
- 12 Meyer Sound Ultra-X40 loudspeakers mounted on 2.5-meter-tall towers
- A VIP stage dedicated to presentations and entertainment
- A DJ set to get everyone pumped up before the start
- Smoke machines to enhance the visual impact of race launches
This setup ensured excellent clarity for the official announcements while creating a lively atmosphere before the runners set off.
Richemont Stadium, a key venue in the event
Another key feature of the 2026 edition was that the Stade de Richemont hosted a variety of events that required a sound system capable of meeting the event’s demands.
To ensure consistent coverage of the venue, the SKYNIGHT teams installed a stage and a sound system designed to deliver power, precision, and a comfortable listening experience.
The technical resources deployed
- Stage measuring 6 meters by 2 meters
- 16 Meyer Sound LEOPARD powered speakers
- 8 Meyer Sound 900-LFC subwoofers
- The sound booth is equipped with an Allen & Heath SQ5 console
This setup made it possible to provide sound for both the speeches and the musical performances held throughout the day, while ensuring consistent sound quality for all attendees on site.
Supporting runners throughout the race
Beyond the start and finish lines, the Generali Geneva Marathon comes alive all along the course. The various cheering stations set up along the route help encourage the runners and enhance the experience for spectators.
To address the specific challenges posed by these spaces, which span several kilometers, SKYNIGHT has implemented sound systems tailored to each specific layout.
The equipment deployed along the route
- 2 Meyer Sound Ultra-X20 speakers
- 2 Sennheiser LSP 500 Pro portable systems
- 5 Audiophony RACER250 systems
These systems ensured the broadcast of announcements, music, and entertainment while offering great installation flexibility. Their portability was a key advantage in effectively serving the various strategic points along the route.
A finish designed to stir the emotions
Every marathon has its defining moment. After several kilometers of hard work, the finish line marks the culmination of months of training for the runners.
The goal of the technical setup was to capture these particularly emotional moments while ensuring excellent broadcast quality for the announcements, entertainment, and various ceremonies held on site.
The technical resources deployed at the finish line
- 10 Meyer Sound Ultra-X40 loudspeakers
- Booths designed for production and DJ areas
- Technical structures and masts
- Special effects using smoke machines
Thanks to this infrastructure, the finish line area offered an immersive atmosphere that highlighted the runners’ performances while providing the audience with a dynamic experience right up until the very end of the event.
The Marathon Village: At the Heart of the Experience
A true gathering place throughout the weekend, the marathon village hosted award ceremonies, partner-sponsored activities, social areas, and various official speeches.
This space required a combination of audio, video, and stage solutions to meet the organization’s diverse needs.
A comprehensive audiovisual system
- Sound systems for event spaces
- BERYL 4.8 LED Wall
- ATEM Mini Pro Video Switcher
- Microphones for public speaking and musical performances
- A stage structure designed for ceremonies
- Immersive corridor
The LED wall was used to display event-related content, information for participants, and the various visual elements used during the awards ceremonies.
This area was one of the main hubs of the marathon, bringing together runners, volunteers, partners, and spectators in one place.
