In the fall, the Palexpo site hosted a series of events with strong identities, organized by Village du Soir. Three consecutive Saturdays, one space, but three radically different artistic worlds. A demanding sequence, both creatively and technically.
For Skynight, the challenge was to transform the venue for each edition without ever starting from scratch. Each event had to offer an immersive and consistent experience, while relying on a common infrastructure. This ability to transform a space in a short period of time, while maintaining high technical standards, is the common thread running through this trilogy of events.
The challenge: transforming a single space into three distinct worlds
The main challenge of this trilogy of events lay in the ability to transform the same venue three times in a very limited time frame. Three consecutive Saturdays, less than a week between each event, and each time with a completely redesigned artistic identity. The space had to be reinvented without ever compromising technical quality or operational fluidity.
Each edition involved a complete reconfiguration of the lighting, sound systems, and scenographic elements, while relying on a common infrastructure. It was not a question of starting from scratch, but of making the most of the existing equipment, adapting it to radically different purposes. This constraint required great precision in preparation, careful anticipation of needs, and perfect control of transition times.
In this context, technology becomes a powerful tool for transformation. It allows distinct worlds to coexist within the same space, while ensuring operational continuity throughout the entire period of use. A delicate balance between rigor, creativity, and efficiency lies at the heart of Skynight's expertise.
Three artistic worlds, three technical styles
Each evening of this trilogy had its own distinct artistic identity, reflected in specific technical choices in terms of lighting, sound, and video. The challenge for the teams was to adapt the audiovisual design to each universe, while relying on a shared infrastructure and working within very tight transformation deadlines.
Madame Loyal: Chic circus atmosphere
The first edition was set in a world inspired by contemporary circus, combining elegance and live performances. The technical configuration was based in particular on:
- a warm, bright atmosphere with golden hues
- a precise highlighting of the scene and the artists
- clear and controlled sound diffusion, suitable for live broadcasts
Megalloween: Visual and audio immersion
For this second evening, the technical setup was completely reconfigured to create an immersive and intense experience:
- video mapping and dynamic lighting effects
- contrast effects and pronounced stroboscopic effects
- Powerful bass, designed to enhance the sonic and physical impact
Day of the Dead: A festive, multi-zone celebration
The third transformation offered a more festive and colorful atmosphere inspired by Mexican tradition:
- rich and expressive color palette
- festive lighting accompanying the scenography
- multi-zone sound system to structure the different areas of the event
Through these three configurations, the same venue was able to host radically different experiences. Technology thus became a true language, capable of translating contrasting artistic worlds while ensuring consistency, reliability, and continuity of operation.
Ensure technical consistency over fifteen days of operation
Beyond the visible transformations, one of the major challenges of this trilogy was ensuring technical continuity throughout the entire period of operation. For a fortnight, the installations were mobilized, adjusted, and reconfigured without interruption, while maintaining a consistent level of quality from one event to the next.
This consistency was based on several key principles:
- maintain a common technical infrastructure designed to evolve without having to be completely dismantled
- reprogram the equipment between each edition in order to respond to new artistic intentions
- ensure the reliability of installations despite intensive and repeated stress
Time management was also a determining factor. The short intervals between each evening's events required precise organization, allowing for partial dismantling, reconfiguration, and technical testing to be carried out within very tight timeframes. Each adjustment had to be anticipated in order to avoid any disruption to operations.
In this context, technology becomes an invisible but essential foundation. It ensures the continuity of the experience offered to the public, while providing the flexibility needed to radically transform the atmosphere of the same venue on multiple occasions, without compromising on safety or the quality of the performance.
Organization, anticipation, and teamwork
The success of a series of events of this magnitude depends above all on rigorous organization and close coordination between teams. From the preparation phase onwards, forward planning enabled us to plan the various technical configurations, identify the specific constraints for each evening, and optimize intervention times.
This organization relied on several key drivers:
- detailed planning of the assembly, adjustment, and testing phases between each event
- continuous coordination between technical and artistic teams and venue teams
- presence of a team mobilized throughout the entire duration of the project, day and night
The fast pace required a high level of responsiveness on the ground. Every transition had to be controlled and every adjustment quickly validated, while ensuring the safety of the facilities and the reliability of the equipment. This human continuity, combined with proven processes, is a key factor in absorbing unforeseen events and maintaining the expected level of excellence.
In such a challenging environment, teamwork takes on its full meaning. It is this collective ability to anticipate, coordinate, and adapt that transforms a logistical challenge into a series of coherent and controlled experiences.
Key figures for an extraordinary project
To gauge the scale of this three-part event, a few figures provide a better understanding of the technical and human resources mobilized throughout the project:
- 3 distinct scenographic configurations, deployed in the same space
- More than 120 LED projectors reprogrammed between each evening
- 15 days of continuous operation, including assembly, reconfigurations, and operation
- 1 team mobilized throughout the entire period, from preparation to final dismantling
These indicators illustrate the ability to manage a series of complex events without interruption, maintaining a consistent level of quality despite particularly high time and transformation constraints.
The art of technical metamorphosis
This trilogy of events at Palexpo fully illustrates the ability of technology to transform a venue without ever altering its use. By reconciling time constraints, diverse artistic worlds, and operational continuity, technical production becomes a real lever for experience.
Behind every transformation, anticipation, team coordination, and mastery of audiovisual equipment ensure consistent quality from one evening to the next. This approach is based on rigor and adaptability, serving demanding events where technology supports creativity and plays a key role in engaging the audience.
